EMILY BEESON or “Bee” is a (largely) self-taught painter who’s fascinated with color, pattern repetition and the great Mother of all inspiration: Nature. Most inspired by time spent outdoors in the wild on both land & sea and at local farmers' markets where produce and flowers are everywhere in sight, Bee has been drawing on friends' jeans and paper cocktail napkins for as long as she can remember.
The mantra that guides her art-making practice — "You Are Already Free" — concurrently motivates her in life, fueling and re-fueling her with courage to show up as her most authentic self.
Post-college and Watson fellowship, Bee spent nine years in the San Francisco Bay Area, creating art while working for a couple of different start-up companies. She later worked as a florist in the city and eventually fled to the 'country' to become an organic flower farmer in Sonoma County.
Feeling called even further west, she landed on the Big Island of Hawaii in fall of 2020. Here, she’s devoted to painting the myriad of wondrous tropical fruits and flowers that abound.
